What would happen if my pet got lost?

While the most important thing you can do to protect your pet is to keep it on a leash when it is outside, we know that that isn't always possible. If your pet does get away from your control, a microchip inserted under its skin will be your best chance for getting your pet back again. The Cedar Bend Humane Society and most veterinary hospitals and other animal shelters routinely scan stray pets for a microchip.

This procedure causes minimal discomfort to your pet, and though anesthesia is certainly not required, microchipping is often done when the pet is anesthetized for another procedure such as dental cleaning or spay or neuter surgery. Please let us know us if you have any questions about microchipping, or would like to have your pet microchipped on its next visit.
