Pet of the Month - January 2018 - Mavis

Meet Mavis! She joined my home in October this year, but originally hails from Strawberry Point, IA. After purchasing my first home- adding a Jack Russell Terrier was the first thing on my list of necessities. Her beautiful chocolate face made it quite simple to pick her from her litter of six. The puppy spots are a new addition that weren’t present as a four week old puppy, but we are loving her unique coat.

Mavis is a relatively easy going JRT who currently loves to play ball, chew bones, meet new humans, and as of late nuzzle under the covers. She has mastered sit, stay, shake, and is currently working on down and roll over (still hating it). She loves to stretch out in the most odd positions ever and nap in someone’s lap. She currently is only enjoying puppy food and training treats. 

Mavis recently learned how to bark thanks to our family JRT Izzy (much to my displeasure). She is eager to learn and very intelligent, but at times can be stubborn - just as one would expect from a JRT. She is fascinated by the shower and loves bath time. We are working on staying on four paws while meeting new people and greeting our visitors. Our favorite things to do lately are: explore the outside, visit my coworkers, and oversee all the new home construction.

She’s been a great addition and we look forward to our first real snowfall! Happy holidays everyone!
