Happy Halloween!

Halloween festivities can be fun for the whole family, including your pets! We would like to remind you of a few small things that can help your pet enjoy Halloween as much as we do.

Whether it is a Halloween party or trick or treating, it is important to keep in mind the safety and comfort of your pets. Some pets may get anxious with trick or treaters coming to the door. This stress can cause pets to escape through an open door, bark, or bite at unexpected guests. A great idea would be to allow your pet to have their own quiet space with their food, water, bed, and toys that they can retreat to if stressed out. If you think your dog may need something more to calm their nerves, give our office a call and ask about Sileo. Sileo is an oral medication which can be used as needed to help with noise anxiety.

Halloween is all about the fun or spooky costumes for us humans. Pets don’t always share the same love for costumes that we do. Costumes may potentially add to the stress your pet. Try to keep a few things in mind when picking out the perfect costume for your critter: be sure the costume does not hinder your pets ability to move, see, and breath.

If your pet loves to be the star of the show and wants to greet your visitors then be sure to keep them on a leash to avoid contact with other people or pets, or in case anything might startle them.

And as always, remember NO halloween candy for our furry friends.

We wish you and your families a safe and happy Halloween!
