Exciting News From Taylor Vet!

There is a lot happening at Taylor Veterinary Hospital and we want you to be some of the first people to know!  The doctors have jotted down some thoughts that they want to share with you.

 Dr. Jim Taylor says…

When I began my internship at the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada, in 1972, I never thought that this day would come. But here it is. I will be hanging up my stethoscope some time in the late fall of this year, after many fun-filled years at the office with you and your pets.  I have enjoyed tremendously getting to know you and your pets and will always treasure the friendships we’ve made.  I would like to thank you for your time spent with me, as we’ve cared together for your important family members. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

I’m also very pleased to welcome Dr. Wendi Goetsch back to the Taylor Vet team, this time as an experienced veterinarian.  Wendi worked with us as veterinary assistant and took care of our boarding and medical patients while a high school and UNI student, before leaving to attend Veterinary College at Iowa State University. She has been practicing for the last seven years in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in a five-veterinarian practice, and she brings a lot of experience, as well as a caring and compassionate heart to care for your pets.

I know your pets will be well-cared for by Dr. Smith and Dr. Goetsch after I’m retired, and I look forward to continuing to see you at Taylor Vet while I’m phasing into retirement.

Dr. Chad Smith says…

Taylor Veterinary Hospital is well known throughout the Cedar Valley for high quality medical and surgical care.  I believe this is largely due to Dr. Taylor’s efforts as an outstanding veterinarian and supporter of the community.  As his upcoming retirement approaches, I reflect on the past 12 years that I have been a part of the Taylor Vet family and am reminded of how much he has taught me and influenced the way I practice veterinary medicine.  His presence at Taylor Vet will be missed, but his legacy will continue.

Our goal at Taylor Veterinary Hospital is to continue providing the same high standards of care for your family pets that Dr. Taylor set forth many years ago.  I am pleased to say that Dr. Wendi Goetsch will be helping to carry on that tradition as she joins our team in August.  I know, without a doubt, that she will provide the high quality of medicine and care for your pets that is synonymous with Taylor Veterinary Hospital.

Dr. Wendi Goetsch says…

As a veterinarian, it is a joy to be back in the clinic where my training first started 18 years ago.  I remember working with Dr. Taylor and seeing his enthusiasm for the profession and his practice.  He and his wife, Pam, instilled in me a sense of pride, purpose, and caring for your job.  It was because of their teaching and encouragement that I pursued an educational career that started at UNI and finished at Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Upon graduation, my husband and I moved to Colorado for a change and to expand our work experiences.

Now with two young children, we are excited to be closer to family and back in our hometown of Cedar Falls.  It will be fun to share in the community and recreational activities with our kids.  Working the last seven years in a fast paced hospital, I am excited to take my knowledge and help those in the Cedar Valley.  I will miss my patients and clients greatly in Colorado Springs since they each have left a special place in my heart, but I am looking forward to building relationships with the patients and clients at Taylor Veterinary Hospital!

We want to extend an invitation to each of you to attend an open house on Thursday, September 11, from 5-7 PM as a welcome reception for Dr. Wendi Goetsch and to celebrate Dr. Taylor’s time at Taylor Veterinary Hospital.  There will be tours of Taylor Vet, light refreshments, give-a-ways, an inflatable slide for the kids (weather permitting), and of course, plenty of time to visit with our staff.  We look forward to seeing you then!
